[ntcir:48] CFP: NTCIR Workshp 2 Meeting

Dear NTCIR ML members,

The second NTCIR Workshop Meeting will be held on March 7-9,
2001 at NII, Tokyo. Japan.

The DAY-1 of the meeting (March 7) is an open forum on
evaluation of IR and text summarization. The overview of the
NTCIR Workshop 2 will be reported there. We have splended
keynote and invited speakers including  Stephan E. Roberson,
Donna Harman, and I. Mani.  And we have a panel on the way
ahead of research in IR and text summarization.

You are most welcome to participate the meeting and join the
discussion!

http://research.nii.ac.jp/ntcir-ws2/. Online registration is
also available there.


For DAY-2 & DAY-3 (March 8-9),  the participation will be
restricted to the members of the active participating groups that
conducted the task set by the NTCIR Workshop 2. But for the
afternoon of the DAY-3, there will be the session for the
new task proposal and round-table discussion for the tasks for
the next NTCIR Workshop.  If you are interested in participating

第２回NTCIRワークショップ成果報告会を標記のように行います。
1日目(3月7日)は、情報検索とテキスト自動要約の評価についての公開
フォーラムです。

第2回NTCIRワークショップのタスクと成果の概要を報告します。
また、基調講演には、BM25　Okapi　Weightingの開発者であり、TREC
Filtering　TruckのchairでもあるProfessor　Stephan E. Roberson
(Micorsoft Cambrige/City Univ London)をお迎えします。また、招待講演
として、TRECの議長であるDonna Harman (NIST)と、Summacの議長I. Mani
( Mitre)の両氏をお迎えします。そのほか、Sung H. Myaeng(韓国 Chungnam
National Univ), Doug Oard (Univ MaryLand)などから海外での状況も紹介
していただきます。一般参加者からのポジション・ペーパを加え、最後にパネル

ディスカッションで、情報検索とテキスト要約技術の研究の今後の展望を
みなさんと一緒に展望したいと思います。

の間での討論となります。ただし、3日の午後は、来年度に向けて、新しい
タスクの提案と来年度のタスクについての円卓討議round-table discussionを
行いますので、来年度の参加を予定している方で、3日目午後の討議に参加
を希望される方は、あらかじめ、各タスクの座長、もしくは、
神門ntcadm@xxxxxxxxxまでお申し出ください。
