The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication
Engineers(IEICE) Transactions on Information and Systems announces a
forthcoming special issued on "Info-Plosion" to be published in June 2010.

The volume of information generated by mankind has increased
exponentially, i.e., "exploded" so that the whole information volumes
are estimated to be 1 ZB until 2010. Thus it is very important for this
information explosion era to build advanced IT infrastructure
technologies such as technologies to search for needed information
efficiently, without bias and without being at risk from the rapidly
growing volume of information, new and sustainable technologies
that can operate large-scale information systems managing
enormous amounts of information safely and securely, human-friendly
technologies to enable flexible dialogue between men and machines and
enable everyone to utilize information and the research into new
social systems that can facilitate the use of advanced,
information-based IT services. "New IT Infrastructures for
Information Explosion Era(Info-Plosion)" research project funded
by MEXT Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research in Priority
Areas started from 2006 and more than a hundred research groups
have joined the project for three years. The project is
interdisciplinary in its structure, bringing together
advanced research methods in information-related areas.

The objective of this special issues is to publish and overview recent
progress in the interdisciplinary area of Information and Computer
Science technologies for the info-plosion. This special issue will
