Call for Papers

We invite submissions of abstracts for 30-minute presentations (plus 10-minute discussions) on any topic pertaining to natural language semantics with relevance to linguistic theory. Abstracts must be anonymous and should be at most 2 pages (A4 or US Letter) in length (including examples and references) using a 12 pt font with 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins on all four sides. In the interest of fairness, these limitations will be strictly enforced.

Policy

Authors may be involved in at most two submissions and may be the sole author of at most one abstract. No single author will be allowed to give more than one presentation at the conference.

As a matter of general policy, SALT does not accept papers that at the time of the conference have been published or have been accepted for publication. In addition, preference will be given to presentations that are not duplicated at other major conferences. We therefore request that authors indicate prior or planned presentations of their papers along with their contact information when they submit their abstracts.

Financial Support

All speakers will receive up to ¥100,000 (approximately US $900) as partial reimbursement for travel related expenses.

Proceedings

All papers presented at the conference will be published in a SALT 16 volume following the conclusion of the conference.

Please write the submitting author's name plus the word 'abstract' in the subject line of your message (e.g., 'Jones abstract'), and include author name(s), affiliation(s), contact information, the title of the abstract, and up to 3 keywords in the body of the email.

Please send the abstract as an attachment. The abstract should include the title, but not author name(s). We prefer .pdf files but will also accept plain text or MS-Word readable files; if you send the latter, we ask that you send us an .rtf file rather than a .doc file.

If circumstances force you to send your abstract via regular mail, please submit 1 anonymous printed copy plus a separate card giving the title of the abstract, author name(s), affiliation(s), contact information, and up to 3 keywords. Also include both the abstract and the accompanying information as separate .pdf, .rtf or text files on an appropriate machine-readable medium such as a floppy disk or a CD. Abstracts (electronic or otherwise) should reach us no later than November 14, 2005, Japan time. We regret that we will not be able to consider abstracts arriving after this date. Speakers will be notified of the results of their abstract review by January 15, 2006.
