This year, NTCIR Workshop hosted 5 tasks, 1) CLIR,
2) Patent retrieval, 3) Question answering, 4) Automatic
text summarization, and 5) Web retrieval. 63 groups
from 10 countries sumitted the task results.

DAY-1 is an open forum of IR, QA and Summarization.
Everyone is welcome. It consists of an overview of
the third NTCIR Workshop and invited talks from
Donna Harman (on QA at TREC and Summarization at DUC),
and Amit Singhal@Google.

DAY-2 & 3 are the sessions that the results of each
task participant will be reported out.

If you are researchers of these areas and would like
to join the discussion in these sessions in DAY-2&3,
please apply to be a "SPECIAL PARTICIPANT" through
the online registration of the web at the above URL.
The application will be reviewed by the program
committee and approved.

We also plan "pre-meeting" lecture in the morning
of DAY-1. It consists of a brief history of NTCIR,
introduction of each task and test collection,
experiment design of IR, QA and summarization, etc.

第3回NTCIRワークショップは、5つの研究タスクを設定しました。
1)言語横断検索、2)特許検索、3)質問応答、4)テキスト自動
要約、5)Web検索です。タスク参加者は、昨年10月から設定され
たタスク課題について共通のデータセットを用いて研究を進め、
10カ国の63チームがタスクを遂行し、結果を提出しました。
その研究成果を報告します。

DAY-1は、検索、QA、要約研究のオープンフォーラムです。第3回
NTCRIワークショップの成果概要、Donna Harman氏(演題:QA at
TREC and Summarization at DUC)とGoogleのAmit Singhal氏の
招待講演を予定しています。どなたでもご参加いただけます。

DAY-2とDAY-3は、タスク参加者の研究成果が報告されます。タス
ク参加者を中心としたセミオープンのセッションです。これらの
セッションに出席を希望される方で、タスクに参加者でない方は
「特別参加者(Special Participant)」の申込みを受け付けてい
ます。特別参加者への申込みは、NTCIRのプログラム委員会で検討
の上、承認いたします。

また、DAY-1の午前中は、事前レクチャを予定しています。内容は、
NTCIRの概要と歴史、タスクとデータセットの紹介、検索、QA、
要約などの評価実験設計などについて、などです。
