Dear All,
I am glad to send a program for the first day (March 7, 2001)
of the NTCIR Workshop meeting, NII, Tokyo.

The first day is an open forum on evaluation of IR
and text processing such as summarization, extraction
and so on. The overview of the NTCIR Workshop 2 will
be presesnted, and there will be splendid speakers
and panelists. We believe it will be a very good forum
to discuss such topics in detail, and we must learn lots
from each other's experiences!

or futere directions of the research of IR and text

at the NTCIR or requests for it are welcome. Please
send a short opinion paper (1/2 to 2 pages) to
ntcadm@xxxxxxxxx by Feb. 28.

皆さま
第2回NTCIRワークショップ成果報告会の第1日目のプログラムを
お送りします。
1日目(3月7日）は、情報検索、要約などの評価、研究についての
公開フォーラムです。NTCIRワークショップのタスクに参加した方に
限らず、どなたでも、関心のあるかたは歓迎です。周りのご関心の
ある方にも、ご案内ください。
今回のNTCIRワークショップの概要についての報告のほか、
基調講演には、Okapiの開発ﾒとして知られるStephan Robertson
教授を、招待講演には米国TIDESでのテキスト検索、文書理解など
の評価の企画取り纏めをしていらっしゃるDonna Harman女史と
Daniel Marcu博士をお招きしました。韓国語の検索と、ヨーロッパ
言語横断検索の評価プロジェクトの結果などもご紹介いただきます。

パネルディスカッションでは、多言語情報アクセス技術の評価、そし
て、今後の検索、要約の研究を展望します。これらのパネルでは、
ひろく、みなさまから、オピニオンぺーパを募集しています。
今回のNTCIRの評価についてのご意見、今後の要望などはもちろん
のこと、より広い観点からの要約や検索研究と評価、今後の進むべ
き方向性などにういて、ご意見をA4で1/2ページから2ページ程度に
まとめて、2月末日までに、ntcadm@xxxxxxxxxあてに、お送りください。
