AsPIRe'10 DATASET ANNOUNCEMENT AND SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS

The 1st International Workshop on Advances in Patent Information
Retrieval (AsPIRe'10) will be collocated with the ECIR 2010 (European
Conference on Information Retrieval).

A subset of 400,000 patents of the MAREC dataset is available for
download. These documents can be accessed after registering to the
MATRIXWARE.NET community (free registration). They can be downloaded here:
http://matrixware.net/prototypes/marec/aspire10/
Participants are encouraged to apply the techniques they develop to this
dataset, where possible. This will allow the results of the presented
techniques applied to the same dataset to be compared.

For more information, see the workshop webpage:

Further information on the ECIR is here:

Patent Information Retrieval is a cross cutting research area as it
contains domains such as multilingual information retrieval, image
processing and retrieval, language processing, and text categorization,
clustering and mining. The main goal of the workshop is to gather
scientists from these areas together to foster the collaboration among
such interdisciplinary areas and spark discussions on open topics
related to Information Retrieval and Machine Translation in the
Intellectual Property domain in order to advance the current
state-of-the-art of patent search tools.

TOPICS:
Research papers should be on one or more of the following topics, with
an emphasis on application to the Intellectual Property (Patent) domain:
* Semantic Annotation of Patents
* Patent Claim Analysis
* Ontology Engineering
* Corpus Analysis
* Patent Categorization
* Clustering and Visualization
* Patent Image Search
* Bibliographic Search, Network Analysis
* Machine Translation
* Cross-lingual Information Retrieval
* Digital Libraries for Patent Literature
* Case Studies
* Challenges in Patent Search
* Information Need of the Patent Searcher

Instructions for paper submission are on the website.

IMPORTANT DATES:
15.01.2010: Paper Submission Deadline
05.02.2010: Notification of Acceptance
15.02.2010: Camera ready papers are due
28.03.2010: Workshop
