For the non-participants, Mainichi Newspaper Japanese Article Data Full-Text Article Database CD-ROMs are available for research purpose use from Mainichi Newspaper Co. and the document records in the CD-ROMs shall be converted into the NTCIR standard record format by the script mai2.pl.(currently information is available in Japanese only)

Chosunilbo Newspaper Article Data　for NTCIR-4 Cross-Lingual Information Retrieval Task

　Korean news articles published in Korea in the years of 1998-1999. It contains the document records from: Chosunilbo.It is also available for the non-participant for the research purpose use from the Research Center for Information Resources at the NII (RCIR/NII). Please notice that this news article data shall be used for the research purpose only . The news article data can not be used for "commercial purpose" nor "information purpose". Please remember that the this news article data is copyrighted and has commercial value as data. It is important for our continued reliable and good relationship with the data producers/providers that we researchers must behave as a reliable partners and use the data only for research purpose under the user agreement and use them carefully not to violate any rights for them .

The followings are the procedures to obtain this news article .

A application form and a user agreement (memorandum) is required.

• 1. *The application form of theNTCIR-4 CLIR Task Newspaper Article Data must be filled out and sent by E-mail to ntc-secretariat.
  
  
• 2. After review of your application in NII,we will contact you the result within a few days.

  Please send us "User Agreement (memorandum on Permission to Use Test Collection)" by postal mail in the format shown in the following.
  
  • Please download and make two copies of the form in double-sided print.
  • Please fill out and sign on both agreement forms. (Signatures are needed on both agreement forms. )
  • Please send them by postal mail or courier to the Address below.
    
  
  
• 3. After we received agreement forms, we will distribute the data.
  
  After being counter-signed by the NII side, one copy of the User Agreement Form will be sent to you and one copy will be kept by NII.
  Because it shows permission to use the data, please keep it in a safe place during the term available.

　English articles published in Japan in the years of 1998-1999. It contains the document records from: Mainichi Daily News. It is available for the non-participant for the research purpose use from the Research Center for Information Resources at the NII (RCIR/NII). Please notice that this news article data shall be used for the purpose of research related to NTCIR-4 Cross-Lingual Information Retrieval Task. Xinhua News Service for NTCIR

English news articles published in China PRC in the years of 1998-1999. It contains the document records from: Xinhua News Service file from LDC2002T31 AQUAINT Corpus of English News Text. For the non-participants, LDC2002T31 AQUAINT Corpus of English News Text is available for research purpose use from the LDC and the document records in the Corpus shall be converted into the NTCIR standard record format by the script xinhua2ntcir.pl.
