Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering: An INTO-CPS Tutorial

Prof. John Fitzgerald is Head of the School of Computing at Newcastle University, UK. Recent projects include INTO-CPS, the industry Innovation Action CPSE-Labs, and support actions Road2CPS and TAMS4CPS, which examine future research and innovation strategy for CPSs. He recently led a successful £58m project creating a unique hub for teaching, research and innovation in computing and urban systems engineering in Newcastle. He teaches modelling and verification technology, and has created new programmes in Cyber Security and in Urban Systems Engineering. He served as Chair of the Formal Methods Europe Association for over a decade.

Prof. Peter Gorm Larsen leads the Software Engineering research group in the Department of Engineering and the DIGIT Centre on Digitalisation, Big Data and Data Analytics at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is an experienced teacher at all levels, and has participated in almost all the previous FM symposia. He is the coordinator of INTO-CPS and is involved in one of the industry-led applications of formal model-based methods in CPSE Labs. He delivered the tutorial mentioned above with Fitzgerald and Pierce at the 2014 symposium.

Dr Ken Pierce is a Research Associate in Computing Science at Newcastle University. His main interests lie in model-based design and engineering of CPSs, in particular, in developing methods and tools for collaborative modelling and co-simulation, fault tolerance, and Design Space Exploration (DSE). He now works on INTO-CPS, on the definition of CPS design workflows, and CPSE Labs.

Dr. Kenneth Lausdahl is a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University. His research interests include developing tools for modeling and simulation in the CPS domain. He now works on the H2020 ICT-1 project INTO-CPS, a research project that is building a tool chain for CPS design.
