Positive Growth Cycle between IT Infrastructure and Application

Newly introduced computers and networks have given rise to new IT applications. The new applications need a more powerful IT infrastructure. We have enjoyed this positive growth cycle. For example, big data, machine learning, and custom computer architecture lead today's AI. Koibuchi lab focuses on future IT infrastructure.

RESEARCH

Photonic Computing and Network

We aim for high-performance computation by utilizing photonic approximate computing. We make the best use of optoelectronic integration technology to propose a new system architecture.

Uncertainty-Tolerate Computing

We aim to enhance the performance of data centers utilizing optical communication while tolerating computational inaccuracies.

Security of Computer Systems

To realize Society 5.0, semiconductor chips with zero-trust security are essential. We aim to find a new security risk of a hardware Trojan for eavesdropping and reducing the system performance and present its countermeasure.

In-Water Computer

Cooling the chips has become a challenge. We are exploring direct immersion cooling using tap water. The computer is coated with a parylene film and cooled in water. Submersion cooling offers excellent heat transfer rates and is easy to handle, but there are challenges related to durability and component replacement.
